Waking up at 4:30 am is hard enough but thankfully, I had a little help from the neighborhood rooster. We hit the ground running this morning to be on the trail at 4:45 am to start our climb of Masada, which is located beside Israel’s Dead Sea. It’s always kind of weird and surreal to start hiking in the dark and watch the landscape unfold with the breaking day.
