Located in the Kananaskis Range of the Canadian Rockies, in Spray Valley Provincial Park, west of Calgary about 40 kilometres from Canmore, Mount Engadine Lodge is a backcountry retreat that’s open year-round.

With mountains, lakes and trails all on offer, and the lodge as your base camp, the outdoor and wilderness exploring to be had is boundless — hiking, trail running, mountain and fat-tire biking, paddling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even ice fishing are among activities you can do during a stay at the lodge.
The photos here (courtesy of Mount Engadine Lodge) show some of the lodge’s attributes — and its mind-blowing views. As for the food, here’s what Mount Engadine has to say: “Breakfast, afternoon high tea (accompanied by a deluxe charcuterie spread) and gourmet dinners locally curated by the resident chef are served ….Customized packed lunches are also provided for daily outdoor adventures.”
Apart from the lodge, Mount Engadine says it offers “unique experiential lodging, including glamping tents and a yurt,” if an outside, sleeping-under-the-stars, luxe-camping-style experience is more your thing.
The Lodge also boasts being recognized this year as one of 5 Best Hotels in Canada by Fodor’s Travel guides. This summer (summer 2022), Mount Engadine Lodge has promotions available for Alberta residents, or for returning guests, though note these discounts cannot be combined.
- Alberta residents: 10% of the base rate for bookings (proof of residency required).
- Return guests: book within 60 days of your last stay and get 10% off of your booking (contact Lodge directly for specifics).
These may also be limited-time deals; you must contact Mount Engadine directly to verify if a deal or discount is still on offer, and for specific terms and conditions of any deal or discount.
