Magical and magnificent, ancient and alluring, stunning and spectacular. India is a must-visit destination for most adventure travellers, and this tour shows you why.

From ancient forts, temples palaces and memorials to busy markets and the revered Ganges, this two-week tour is particularly ideal for those venturing into India for the first time. You begin in the iconic chaotic capital of Delhi—the food! the colour! the culture!—then head to Jaipur, the state of Rajasthan’s famed Pink City.

Then it’s off to Agra to see the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, to the medieval village of Orchha with its classic Mughal architecture, and then to explore the amazing temples of Khajuraho. You will shop in bustling markets and take an overnight train to the holy city of Varanasi. Sail the Ganges and visit a village and local school, all before returning to Delhi on another overnight train adventure.

Trip Highlights

Days 1–5: See India’s most iconic sights in New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, India’s “golden triangle” of must-see destinations, including the Taj Mahal and Tiger Fort.

Days 6–9: Calm things down with visits to classic Indian villages, including Orchha and Basari Village to visit local schools and religious shrines and get a sense for real, everyday Indian life; then visit the increasingly popular “Kama Sutra temple” at Khajuraho.

Days 10–14: Ride the overnight train to Varanasi, one of the most famous, wild and holy cities in India, where you can wander the narrow cobblestone streets and meet the local cows who tread them, before riding the train back to Delhi to fly home.
